Granderson traded to Yankees in 3 team deal

December 10, 2009 Leave a comment

Tigers get:
Phil Coke (from Yankees)
Austin Jackson (from Yankees)
Max Scherzer (from Diamondbacks)
Daniel Schlereth (from Diamondbacks)

Yankees get:
Curtis Granderson (from Tigers)

Diamondbacks get:
Edwin Jackson (from Tigers)
Ian Kennedy (from Yankees)

This trade really caught me be surprise. The Tigers led the american league central for a large part of 2009. They crumbled down the stretch losing out to the Twins, but they had a competitive ball club. One of the reasons for this success was great pitching out of Edwin Jackson and having a quality leadoff hitter in Curtis Granderson. Granderson is a rare combination of speed and power from the leadoff spot. He was also a person that gave back to the city of Detroit through his charities. The Tigers basically waved the white flag to all their fan. I would not be surprised if Miguel Cabrera was next. If you are a Tiger fan I am sorry, your ownership has given up on 2010. Expect a Marlins style fire sale to follow in the coming off season. In the end the Tigers did get some value in return. Max Scherzer is a quality pitcher that just could not seem to nail down a spot in Arizona’s rotation but could be a big surprise for Detroit.

If you are a Yankee fan you should be proud of your general manager. The Yankees gave up Austin Jackson, Phil Coke, and Ian Kennedy. Three players that proved nothing in the major leagues. In return they got the best leadoff hitter they’ve had since they gave up Alfonso Soriano to aquire A-Rod in 2004. Granderson is owed $25.75 million over the next 3 years with a club option in 2013. That basically adds up to the Yankees potentially getting Granderson for 4 years at what I consider a reasonable price. Johnny Damon would probably demand at least what Granderson is getting paid and is nearly 8 years older than Granderson. Granderson turns 29 in March. This may not close the door on a Johnny Damon return but it surely dampers any leverage he had in contract negotiations. Bottom line, the World Champion Yankees just got better and it wasn’t through free agency.

Lastly is the Diamondbacks. I honestly do not see why Arizona got involved here. They gave up Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth for Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy. Scherzer is a quality young starter and Schlereth is another young arm. The Diamondbacks must have a lot of faith in Ian Kennedy or no faith in Max Scherzer for them to feel this trade was a smart move for them. The Tigers and Yankees must have sweet talked Diamondback GM Josh Byrnes to get this job done.

Tebow crying lost him a man card

December 9, 2009 Leave a comment

I am a Gator fan and a Tim Tebow fan. I know that means a lot of you immediately don’t like me but get over it. I acted much like all Gator fans have been the past 4 years. Proud, confident, and sometimes seemingly arrogant to the Gators football success.

This year I was not naive to think the Gators couldn’t lose. I actually predicted they would lose to Alabama. I thought it would be a much lower scoring game. Something in the 13 to 10 range similar to LSU game. However, I was still hopeful and excited for the SEC championship game. In my mind that game WAS the national championship game. Both Alabama and Florida can and will beat Texas.

Anyway, the SEC Championship game was definitely rough as a Gator fan. The gators did not bring it, specifically on defense. Tebow actually had a similar game to the LSU victory but the Gator defense (which is the real reason the Gators went 12-0) was not there. I could blame Carlos Dunlop for being a complete idiot. I could point to Brandon Spikes getting hurt. In the end… Alabama was just the better team. Frankly I feel if Alabama had a better showing against Tennessee they would have been #1 the entire second half of the season. I stopped watching after Tebow’s 4th quarter endzone pick. I did not see this whole crying fiasco until later.

Which leads me to my message to Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow… you have embarrassed your fans and yourself. You embarrassed me as a Gator fan and as a Tim Tebow fan. I have spent hours defending your leadership and competitive determination. Time and time again you showed yourself to be a leader and a model citizen. Then you had to go and ruin it in your last meaningful college football game.

You have erased your famous motivational speech after the lost to Ole Miss last year. You have ruined the image of the 2008 SEC title game where you looked like a true warrior with crimson paint all over your jersey as you led the Gators past Alabama in the rain on your way to a national championship. You’ve ruined it. As if being spanked 32-13 wasn’t enough.. you just couldn’t hold your emotions in and had to make every Tebow hater absolutely love Alabama’s victory even more. You cried. You cried like a freaking baby. There is no defending that. You allowed Tennessee fans, FSU fans, and fans of all other teams the right to give Gator fans crap. They can now give every Gator fan crap and we have to take it. What can we say back? Nothing.

You will no longer be thought of as a warrior, as a fighter, but instead as a pansy. A wuss. A man who cries when he doesn’t get what he wants. In my book you lost a man card and I will suffer the consequences of your inability to control your emotions.

Tiger Woods is a pimp

December 9, 2009 Leave a comment

I cannot help but comment on the whole Tiger Woods fiasco. First, we hear about Tiger getting in a minor car accident at 2am which he ran into a fire hydrant and tree in his own driveway. Immediately you think alcohol or drugs. Then, it turns out he was escaping for his life as his wife ‘went ghetto’ on him chasing him down the driveway with a freaking golf club allegedly because she found out about Tiger’s affair with another woman.

Immediately you think ‘Tiger Woods? cheating on his wife?’. The latest star to turn out to be a scum bag. Then it got worse… more women start coming out. There are reports of racy text massages, panicked voice mails and 31 month relationships.

Before this accident is was relatively assumed Tiger Woods was a good guy. He was one of the most recognized athletes in the world, a billionaire, and a player that on his own revolutionized his sport. He married a beautiful woman, has had 2 children in the past few years and was starting his family. His injuries conveniently coincided with his wife’s pregnancies and he looked to be a true family man.

Then crap hit the fan. You could always tell Tiger had a big ego but what we didn’t realize it that didn’t just have to do with his golf game, it affected his mojo too. He had it all but wanted more. He thought he was invincible. That he could get away with cheating on his wife and betraying his family. Then when he finally fessed up to his family his wife jumped over the line on the crazy-hot scale and chased him down the driveway with one of his $500 Nike 9-irons. Then he has the audacity and insult to think he could send the cops away 3 times when they came to question him on the incident because he actually was ignorant to think that if he didn’t talk that no one would find out what really happened. Come on tiger, take some notes from Kobe and Letterman, just fess up and people get over it.

I realize by this point he has given a quasi-confession stating he is extremely sorry about what he has done to his family but he still tried to keep it private.

Now to my point and take on all this. Tiger, you are an idiot. How rediculously stupid do you have to be to have multiple affairs while on tour and still go on to get your own wife pregnant twice. You CANNOT have it all. You make millions of dollars. Pay for your wife to come with you on your tours and you can have your way with her every night. If you don’t think she is hot enough for you then divorce her. You’ve got your killer prenup that would net you $4 million in a divorce, so if you’re that much of a scum bag that you need to have sex with multiple women than just break it off. Do you realize that you were risking MILLIONS of dollars in endorsements and ruining your public image every time you had sex with these women. To be so ignorant to think they would keep quiet.. even if you paid them off.

Not only does everyone think your a huge scum bag now, but you’re now going to be the butt of numerous jokes, you are going to hear resounding boos for the first time in your life, and people will genuinely hate you with good cause. All because having everything was not enough for you.

I would post links on where I got all the information in this post.. but at this point so many articles have been posted you would be safe Googling whatever fact you you wanted to follow up on.
